Q. What services does Southern Brain and Spine offer?
A. Consultation is offered with Dr. Voorhies, a nationally known and highly respected expert in the field of neurosurgery and minimally invasive spine surgery, including complex spinal instrumentation. We provide access to physician-related services and we will arrange for any necessary tests in an effort to diagnosis and treat your neurosurgical problem.

Q. What are your hours?
A. 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday and by appointment at other times.

Q. How soon can I get an appointment?
A. You can call our appointment desk at (504) 535-7765, Ext. 1 and ask for an appointment with Dr. Voorhies. Special care is taken to expedite every appointment. We can assist out of town and international patients in arranging hotel accommodations.

Q. Do I need to bring anything to my appointment?
A. Yes. You will need to bring all of your completed patient questionnaires. Please, call the office (504) 454-0141 and we will be happy to mail you any necessary forms. Alternatively you can plan to arrive at your appointment about 20 minutes early to complete the questionnaires. These questionnaires will soon be available to be downloaded on the website (contact (504) 535-7765, Ext. 1 for additional information). These forms are important as they help us get a more complete understanding of your medical history and current problem. It is also important that you bring any x-rays, MRI scans, CT scans or any other test results regarding your condition. This includes the official radiology reports as well as the actual films. Relevant physician records and reports are also useful.

Q. How long will my appointment take?
A. A new patient appointment generally takes about 60 minutes. This time allows for paper work to be completed, physician interview and examination to be preformed, and any arrangements for other tests, x-rays and procedures to be made.

Q. How are emergencies handled after hours? Is there another doctor that sometimes takes call or covers for Dr. Voorhies?
A. Yes. Our physicians are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call our main office number (504) 454-0141 for assistance. Prescriptions are refilled during office hours only and not after hours or on weekends.

A. Our knowledgeable office staff can provide you with assistance with these questions.

Q. What payment methods do you accept?
A. Visa, MasterCard, Cash, and Personal Checks. Financing arrangements are also available.
